Branches and Chapels

Branches & Chapels should receive nomination forms direct from Electoral Reform Services.  If you have not received a form, contact the Returning Officer, John Gibbins (john.gibbins@unitetheunion.com) or 020 8315 8207 to request a duplicate.

Nominations must be made at a quorate branch or chapel meeting held in November or December.  Nominations from October or January meetings will not be accepted.

If your Branch is scheduled to meet in November or December then make sure that General Secretary election nomination is on the agenda and that branch members are notified of the meeting and the agenda at least 7 days before the meeting.

If your Branch or Chapel is not scheduled to meet, then call a special meeting.  The union can do this for you using the Membership System to write to all branch or chapel members, but they need at least 21 days notice.  Contact John Gibbins to use this facility.  For such meetings to take place, in the case of workplace branches 7 days’ notice of the meeting must be given on a union notice board. In all other cases all members of the branch must be informed of the date, time and venue of the meeting by a written notice of the meeting being sent to them.  

Keep a copy of your nomination form and ensure that the original is returned to ERS before 9^th January 2009.  Email me at coyne4gs@hotmail.co.uk or use the contact page on this site to let me know you have nominated me, and make sure you tell me the name and number of your branch or chapel.
